Amos Rex in Helsinki

The light! In Scandinavia this has been an inspiration for artist throughout the ages. This alone is a reason to visit the splendid art capitals of this region. The art worlds are truly exciting with the new Munch Museum and the Twist in Oslo. Helsinki has its first Biennial this year and as a result the art world is more vibrant than ever. And of course we dive into the wonderful art scene of Copenhagen. Exceptional clean Nordic design and the amazing equally ‘clean’ cuisine are further draws. Add the stunning natural beauty and we have a ‘not-to-be missed’ destination. It is no coincidence that the three countries we will visit are home of the Top-3 of Happiest People in the world.

ITINERARY

Artwork by Janet Echelmen in HelsinkiHELSINKI, Finland
The Biennial of 2020 (postponed to 2021) really put Helsinki on the art world map. We ‘dive into’ the thriving art scene and see the best it has to offer. We will meet fantastic artists and collectors in their studios and homes. Of course we will include design from the world-renowned Aalto studio. We will enjoy a special behind-the-scenes tour in the Kiasma museum. And in contrast we visit the most beautiful examples of Finnish Jugendstill architecture.

Munch museumOSLO, Norway
‘Oslo is Europe’s next great Art Capitol’ according to ARTnews.com. And we agree. The new Munch Museum is set be open this fall. It promises to be a fabulous tribute to the artist and of course we will enjoy a special visit. The Oslo art scene is booming and we include the best galleries, museums and private collections in the program. We also make a spectacular trip north to visit the Twist Museum and the sculpture garden surrounding it. Then it is time to take in the natural beauty from the water. We board the cruise-ferry and leave Oslo behind with stunning views of the Norwegian fjords. On board we enjoy a great dinner and spend the night in a first class cabin.

Interior of the Hirschsprung CollectionCOPENHAGEN, Denmark
We wake up arriving in wonderful Copenhagen. The hugely successful contemporary artist Olafur Elliason was born here and we meet some of his contemporaries. We will visit intriguing private collections. And we will enjoy visits to the Hirschsprung Collection for masterpieces from the Danish Golden Age as well as the fantastic modern and contemporary Louisiana Museum and sculpture garden. There is also time for some great (design) shopping. Of course we will eat what could be the best food you have ever tasted in some of the 25+ Michelin star restaurants of the Danish capital. A fantastic last stop on what promises to be a truly magical tour.
