ArtTable organized and presented “Reaction + Action in the Art World,” a panel discussion of top arts professionals at the forefront of creative civic engagement to discuss their experiences with radical resistance and process. The panel was moderated by Jessica L. Porter, executive director of ArtTable, and included Tiana Webb Evans, founder and director, ESP Public Relations; Carin Kuoni, director and chief curator, Vera List Center for Art and Politics; Monica O. Montgomery, cofounder and strategy director, Museum Hue; Sable Elyse Smith, interdisciplinary artist; and Allison Freedman Weisberg, founder and executive director, Recess.

ArtTable organized and presented the second annual leadership series titled “Arts Partnerships and the Transformation of Cities”.The panel brought together six distinguished women: Christy MacLear (moderator), Art Agency, Partners; Laurie Beckelman, The Shed; Sarah Calderon, Art Place America; Eva Franch i Gilabert, Storefront for Art and Architecture; Deborah Rappaport, Minnesota Street Project; and Regina R. Smith, Kresge Foundation who have worked to design and establish partnerships and programs that bring artists and artistic activity into dialogue with community authorities and the private sector. In addressing the complexities of such collaborations, these leaders ensure that artistic communities are fully represented and have an integral role in the preservation and growth of a city’s infrastructure.

Co-presented by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics and The New School, ArtTable’s first Annual Leadership Series at the New School, titled “New Visions, New Voices,” brought together women leading art museums in New York City’s boroughs. The panel featured Holly Block (The Bronx Museum of the Arts), Thelma Golden (The Studio Museum in Harlem), Anne Pasternak (Brooklyn Museum), and Laura Raicovich (Queens Museum). Moderated by Roberta Smith, co-chief art critic of The New York Times, the discussion focused on the role of each institution in its community, with insights and anecdotes from the participants.
