Salon Dinner: Jay deFeo and Louise Nevelson
May 30, 2013

A dinner party celebrating two extraordinary women artists, Jay DeFeo and Louise Nevelson. In 1959, the Museum of Modern Art exhibition SIXTEEN AMERICANS, curated by the famed Dorothy Miller, included only two women, DeFeo and Nevelson. Honored guests included Leah Levy, co-trustee of the DeFeo Estate, and Maria Nevelson, granddaughter of Louise Nevelson, who lectures widely about her grandmother’s work and life and has established the Louise Nevelson Foundation, which is dedicated to writing a catalogue raisonné of her work.
