Summary Statement

The National Programs Manager generates, manages, and produces ArtTable’s programs annually, ensuring a growing calendar of diverse virtual and in-person programming to facilitate professional development, networking, special access, and educational content to members and the arts community across the country. This role manages volunteers across the country in connection with programming and committee participation in a National Programming Committee and creates special event and program opportunities for ArtTable’s top tier of membership, ArtTable Circle, Patron, and Benefactor. 

The National Programs Manager serves as a public information officer for ArtTable and manages all website and social media content regarding programming. This role will create digital content to engage, inform, and market our programs to ArtTable members and the wider visual arts community to ensure robust participation and inclusive audiences.  The National Programs Manager also organizes regular ArtTable newsletters focused on programming and general organizational updates.

Essential Job Functions

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, PLANNING & EXECUTION

50% ~ 20 hours a week

  1. In partnership with the Director of External Affairs and the Executive Director, conceptualizes, develops, and implements a forward-thinking and ambitious national programs strategy that is on brand and serves ArtTable’s membership base and the general public.
  2. Conceptualizes, manages, and produces at least 80 nationwide, virtual, and in-person programs annually, including ArtTable’s Annual Leadership series, panel discussions, museum tours, studio visits, book discussions, artist talks, collection visits,  programming associated with international art fairs, and virtual conversation series.
  3. Grows and diversifies the ArtTable audience through programs that speak to a broad range of interests and genres. 
  4. Maintains and develops a deep knowledge of the visual arts, women and nonbinary professionals, and career development; builds a network to facilitate programming and collaborations. 
  5. Develops partnerships and relationships with members, individuals, organizations, institutions, art fairs, and businesses to create and collaborate on programs and initiatives.
  6. Manages all aspects of program logistics, including AV/web platform, rentals, catering, travel arrangements, and payment information.
  7. Creates and manages the programming budget to ensure that expenses do not exceed the budget. Meet defined financial goals provided by the Executive Director.
  8. Negotiates contracts with partners, vendors, and presenters.
  9. Serves as talent liaison for programs; ensures support and hospitality are extended to each speaker/guest. 
  10. Drafts thoughtful, approachable introductions before programs when appropriate.
  11. Coordinate local networking event logistics in collaboration with the Membership and Impact Initiatives Manager.
  12. Support programming through the communication of program details, marketing plans, event registration, and event logistics. 
  13. Support the Executive Director and Director of External Affairs with qualitative and quantitative programming reporting.
  14. All other national programs duties as assigned. 

COMMUNICATIONS 

30% ~ 12 hours a week

  1. Write, edit, and post program-related content across all of ArtTable’s social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. 
  2. Develop copy and source rights-cleared images to promote and share programs. 
  3. Develop, draft, and send National Programs newsletters 1-2x/month and TableTalk, ArtTable’s monthly news update.
  4. Develop, draft, and send targeted emails promoting programs as needed. 
  5. Develop an editorial strategy to ensure content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with mission and member interests. 
  6. Build program pages and online registration forms, as well as track online registrations and attendee lists using ArtTable’s CRM software and WordPress. 
  7. Monitor and evaluate new developments in the world of digital communications and social media and make recommendations for new digital campaigns, tactics, and platforms in collaboration with the Director of External Affairs.
  8. Serve as ArtTables’s primary spokesperson for online community management, responding to comments, questions, posts, and press inquiries via social media.
  9. Work with staff, members, and partners to source new content for digital platforms and train staff and volunteers as needed on how to create content for those platforms.
  10. Assist in the authoring and editing copy for digital platforms by applying the in-house style guide and best practices for specific digital platforms.
  11. Update website with program and organizational information; manage and update images and text formatting as needed.
  12. Manage all communications, projects, and files, keeping them organized, on schedule, and well-documented.
  13. All other digital communications duties as assigned. 

NATIONAL PROGRAM COMMITTEE MANAGEMENT

10% ~ 4 hours a week

  1. Oversee and direct the National Program Committee for four meetings per year. 
  2. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the leadership of the National Programming Committee.
  3. In partnership with the Executive Director, communicate and maintain policies and procedures related to committee oversight.
  4. Create and distribute a meeting agenda before every meeting, informing committee members of overall organizational updates, programming goals, and action items.
  5. Implement committee action items post-meeting as needed; track and follow up with committee members on relevant tasks. 

ANNUAL BENEFIT & SPECIAL EVENTS

10% ~ 4 hours a week

  1. Coordinate with the Executive Director to organize special events for ArtTable Circle, Patron, and Benefactor members and supporters.
  2. Play a leading role in the development and execution of the Annual Benefit and other special events including event management, logistics, coordination, and interfacing with event committees and donors/attendees. 
  3. Develop, maintain, track, and communicate event planning timelines, schedules, budgets, and revenue targets. Ensure all parties are meeting deadlines and enhancing event success. 
  4. Develop, monitor, and provide a functional cost-benefit analysis of each event budget. 
  5. Develop event-related correspondence, memoranda, reports, tables, and other documents.
  6. Develop and coordinate post-event evaluation process (with appropriate stakeholders and committees) to include return on investment analysis (quantitative/qualitative), volunteer management, committee structure, public perceptions, and other event-related analyses to ensure event success.
  7. All other special event duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Art History, Visual/Fine Arts, or related field.
  • Four years of professional experience in program/event planning, production, and communications.
  • Working knowledge of the visual arts field and a strong interest in nonprofit organizations are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop compelling programs, build strong partnerships, and tactfully manage volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including maintaining member, donor, volunteer, and other internal and external relationships.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to obtain, accurately, and grammatically convey information. 
  • Visual communication skills that are sufficient to produce compelling and aesthetically impactful presentations, diagrams, and communications materials. Graphic design skills are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an equal aptitude for data accuracy and integrity. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, Board Members, volunteers, donors, members, graduate-level students, and other supporters.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, flexible environment in a very planned, organized, and strategic manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and master CRM information and software systems. Experience with Neon CRM is a plus. 
  • Strong proficiency with Mac operating systems and Google Workspace, Sheets, and Doc. 
  • WordPress, Asana, Canva, and Meta Business Suite proficiency are preferred. Video editing proficiency is a plus.

  • Ability to regularly work holidays, weekends, and evenings as well as off-site as needed. 

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $65,000 to $70,000; Compensation within this range is determined by skills, experience, and organizational equity.

Benefits: Full health, dental, and vision package; 403b retirement plan available with up to 5% matching after 1 year of employment.
